Sometimes it takes just a few bright women to break the conventions of beauty and turn the world upside down. Women whose personality shines as much as their silvery strands of hair.
Mujeres cuya personalidad brilla tanto como sus plateados mechones de cabello. A veces sólo hace falta un pequeño grupo de mujeres brillantes para romper las normas de belleza y darle la vuelta a todo.

They are The Silver Sisters, a movement launched by Diana Lewis Jewell, author of "Going Gray, Looking Great", a book published in 2004 and The Silver Sisters Cafe Gray a website turned a community for all these women that have decided to embrace their grey hair, talk about their experience, share beauty tips and let the world know that grey is beautiful,too!
Ellas son las Silver Sisters, un movimiento promovido por Diana Lewis Jewell, autora del libro "Going Gray, Looking Great" publicado en 2004 y The Silver Sisters Cafe Gray, una web que se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro para todas aquellas mujeres que han decidido dejar de teñirse el cabello. En la comunidad comparten experiencias, trucos de belleza y demuestran al mundo que el gris también puede ser bello.

La modelo Kristen McMenamy desafió las normas de la moda subiéndose a la pasarela luciendo su melena gris.

Yasmina Rossi, a 56 years old model with a striking attractiveness that doesn´t spare her nasty comments on her hair colour. The words "witch" and "granny" comes up remarkably often in relation to the grey-haired women.
A la modelo Yasmina Rossi su belleza no la libra de algunos comentarios desagradables acerca del color de su pelo. Las palabras "bruja" y "abuelita" se emplean demasiadas veces para definir a las mujeres que deciden no teñir sus canas.

Mature men usually get compliments on how "distinguished" and "sexy" they look with their greying hair while women have to put up with people telling them to have their hair fixed, dyed and styled.
A los hombres maduros se les suele decir que el cabello gris les da un aire "interesante" y "sexy" ( y algunos desgraciados hasta se lo creen) mientras que las mujeres tienen que aguantar todo tipo de comentarios y de consejos sobre como "arreglarse y teñirse" el pelo.

En una sociedad en la que envejecer es un pecado y en la que las mujeres son todavía juzgadas por su apariencia, dejar las canas a la vista puede considerarse como un valiente acto de rebeldía.

Although I love dying my hair and I can´t imagine myself in a few years with a silver mane, I must admit that all these ladies look wonderful.

Aunque soy fan absoluta de los tintes capilares para ambos sexos y no me imagino dentro de unos años "plateada", no dejo de mostrar mi admiración por lo bien que les sienta a todas estas mujeres el gris. 

No me refiero solamente a Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis,Judy Dench o Glenn Close, en la página de Facebook de "Going Gray, Looking Great" hay centenares de fotografías de mujeres anónimas que hacen cambiar la vieja percepción del gris como algo descuidado,viejo y aburrido.

And I don´t only mean all these celebs but the endless list of pics that I have seen on the Silver Sisters Facebook page. Looking at all those anonymous ladies photos makes you change all perjudices about greying hair.

Y aunque no nos convenza, ¿quienes somos nosotras, quién es nadie para decirle a una mujer que se tiña- o no -? ¿Y por qué a estas alturas aún hay quien se burla de los hombres que recurren al tinte para tapar sus canas? Afortunadamente no todas las señoras canosas parecen brujas ni todos los caballeros "coloreados" terminan pareciéndose a Berlusconi.

The house whirled around two or three times and rose slowly through the air. Dorothy felt as if she were going up in a balloon. The unforgettable Dorothy and her dog Toto are carried off by a fierce tornado to a magical land. Fashion is also a cyclon that often transport us to unknown places and invites us to explore past times and even the future. I have drawn this 50´s style skirt, close-fitting jumper with v-neck, padded shoulders and lace trim thinking of a teenager Dorothy - Sadie. I have completed her look with a pair of red kitten heels with black ribbon. The little girl that you see up in the right corner is my aunt aged 7. She gave me "The Wizard of Oz" book which it became soon one of my childhood favorites tales.

The greatest loss I had known was the loss of my heart. No one can love who has not a heart, and so I am resolved to ask Oz to give me one. Life is neither white nor black. Grey -in all shades - will reign this winter along with red. We´ll fall in love with both of them!

The King of Beasts shouldn't be a coward. Neither a fashionista should be. It´s time to try out metallic make up, Brigitte Bardot 50´s hair style, animal print(again!) and fake fur garments such a gilet.
The Wizard of Oz appeared every time in a different form; once as a giant head, once as a beautiful fairy,... And so modern day fashion wizards do. Karl, John, Donna, Donatella, Jean Paul, Vivienne, ... It doesn´t matter who your favorite wizard is. One thing is for sure. The fashion cyclone will take you down to a magical world of new trends and surprises once again.
