Hay momentos en la vida de una blogger que no interesan a nadie

De la autora de  "Are you revealing too much?" llega: "Hay momentos en la vida de una blogger que no interesan a nadie y que sin embargo nos empeñamos en compartir". Según me informa Blogger este es mi post número 400; aunque hay algunos más deambulando por ese limbo denominado "Borrador", posts que  en su día consideré  que eran demasiado malos - y alguno de ellos hasta demasiado ridículos - para ser publicados. Cuatrocientos ya... Dicen que el 400 simboliza la fragilidad humana (¿acaso no refleja Sadie cierta vulnerabilidad en esa instantánea tan privada?) y para los mayas (¡otra vez estos señores tan agoreros!) era símbolo de lo innumerable y de lo indescriptible. Quizás como este blog pero esta imagen de Sadie pillada in fraganti tiene una explicación coherente: hoy es el Día Mundial del WC y a nuestros detractores (para hacernos las interesantes pretendemos creer que tenemos de eso) que puedan pensar que este blog es una ****** no nos basta con servírselo en bandeja; ¡le añadimos hasta una taza! ¿Qué os decía de esas cosas que no interesan a nadie y de esos posts de los que nos avergonzamos? ¡He aquí el ejemplo!
From the author of "Are you revealing too much?" comes "There are moments in a blogger´s life that are of no interest to anybody else and still we insist on sharing them" According to Blogger this will be my post number 400, although  there are a few more wandering in a limbo called "Drafts", posts that I thought too bad or ridiculous to be published. Four hundred already... It is said that 400 symbolizes the human fragility ( doesn´t Sadie reflect some vulnerability having been caught in such a private moment?) and the Mayas (here we have these ominous gentlemen again!) considered it symbol of the innumerable and the inexpressible. Perhaps that´s exactly what this blog is like. Anyway I have a good reason for publishing this pic of Sadie as it´s the World Toilet Day today. Our enemies (we pretend to be interesting enough to have them) will be delighted to make an easy joke with these facts:))) What did I tell you about uninteresting things and posts we are ashamed of? Here you have a good example!

This fashionable religious feeling

¿Transformar un nuevo y flamante vestido de Chanel? ¡Menudo sacrilegio para cualquier fashionista adoradora de la célebre "maison"! Sin embargo, esta es una de las principales tareas a las que se dedica Miri Beilin, diseñadora de vestidos nupciales, estilista y "transformadora de tendencias". Nacida en Nueva York y residente en Israel desde los diecisiete años, Beilin pertenece a la comunidad de judíos ultra-ortodoxos, que se caracteriza por seguir estrictamente todas las leyes hebraicas. Tziniut o modestia, es un vocablo hebreo que sirve para designar las leyes relativas a la vestimenta. Según el tziniut, ni los hombres ni las mujeres deben vestir ropas demasiado llamativas y observar cierto decoro en el vestir. Generalmente las mujeres evitan las faldas por encima de la rodilla, pantalones, prendas ajustadas o escotadas y las mangas por encima de los 3/4. Miri es una maestra en el arte de adaptar las últimas tendencias de moda "laicas" a las exigencias religiosas, lo que la ha convertido en toda una estrella de su comunidad.
Al igual que Miri, muchas mujeres judías ortodoxas se han apuntado a la aventura de conciliar moda con religión. En Nueva York se organiza cada año el Frumway Project, un concurso de diseño benéfico abierto a mujeres de todas las edades. El proyecto ganador es confeccionado por una firma hebrea de moda y presentado en un desfile donde los hombres tienen vetada la entrada.
Altering a brand new Chanel dress? What a sacrilege for any fashion worshipper! However that´s exactly one of Miri Beilin´s main tasks, a wedding gowns designer, stylist and , as she describes herself, trends converter. Born in New York but transferred in Israel at 17, Beilin is an ultra-orthodox jew  which means that she follows the Jewish law and observes tziniut guidelines. According to tziniut, both men and women must dress modestly. Ladies must wear below-the-knee skirts and dresses, avoid wearing trousers in presence of men, cover their arms,etc. Miri has mastered the art of  converting the latest fashion trends into the strictest religious requirements but she´s not alone in this adventure. Frumway Project is a charitable design contest that takes place in New York every year and  it´s open to women of any age. The winner project is created by a Jewish designer and featured in a catwalk where men are banned from entry.

"Más difícil todavía" - En algunos sectores del judaísmo más radical, no se ve con buenos ojos la presencia de mujeres en publicidad, periódicos,etc por lo que la revista de moda Stylish, dirigida a mujeres ortodoxas, prescinde completamente de modelos y presenta  todas las prendas en composits tipo Polyvore.
"A higher level of difficulty" - Some ultra-orthodox jews don´t want women to be featured in advertising, newspapers,etc , so fashion magazine Stylish aimed at  strictly religious women, never uses models but arranges clothes in a Polyvore style instead.

For centuries, black cats have been linked to the night, witchcraft , superstition and evil spirits.
Durante siglos se ha relacionado al gato negro con la noche, la brujería, la superstición y los espíritus maléficos.

Sephardic jews believed that Litith, Adam´s first wife according to Hebrew tradition, became an evil vampire after being expelled from Eden. She appeared as a giant black cat known as El Broosha that sucked the blood from newborn babies.
Los judíos sefardíes creían que Lilith, la primera esposa de Adán según la tradición hebrea, se transformó en un malvado vampiro tras ser expulsada del Paraíso y que tomaba la apariencia de un gigante gato negro llamado El Broosha que chupaba la sangre de los recién nacidos.

A cat, especially a black one, was any witch´s best friend, so owning one of these domestic little panthers was considered incriminating evidence against anyone accused of withcraft. Many women, men and even chidren werw burnt at the stake as witches and their cats along with them.
In the tenth century, Pope Gregory IX announced that black cats were linked with the devil and in 962 hundreds of cats, not just black ones, were burnt for their sins during Lent in the French town of Metz.
Un gato, especialmente si era negro, era el mejor amigo de cualquier bruja, por lo cual la posesión de una de estas pequeñas panteras domésticas era una prueba incriminatoria contra cualquier persona acusada de brujería. Muchas mujeres, hombres e incluso niños terminaron en la hoguera junto a sus gatos. En el siglo X, el Papa Gregorio IX declaró que los gatos negros estaban relacionados con el demonio y en el año 962 centenares de gatos, no sólo negros, fueron quemados para expiar sus "pecados" en cuaresma en la ciudad francesa de Metz.

Some centuries ago across Europe there was "The legend of the Corn Cat", a feline agricultural deity who would keep the land fertile and it would guarantee a good harvest. Black cats were killed and buried in the fields to deter evil spirits from harming the crop.
Siglos atrás a lo largo de Europa cierta leyenda hablaba del "Gato del Maíz", una deidad felina que velaba por la fertilidad de la tierra y que garantizaba una buena cosecha. Los gatos negros eran sacrificados y enterrados en los campos de cultivo para mantener a raya a los malos espíritus.

Fortunately things have changed for good and nowadays the black cat has become a symbol of good luck in many countries. In UK black cats are especially welcome at weddings. If a black cat crosses the path of the newly married as they leave the church, happiness is guaranteed.
Afortunadamente las cosas han cambiado positivamente para el gato negro, que se ha convertido en un símbolo de buena suerte en algunos paises. En Gran Bretaña los gatos negros son bienvenidos en las bodas, ya que se cree que si uno de estos animales se cruza con los recién casados a la salida de la iglesia, la felicidad está asegurada.

The bad news is that superstition, ignorance and cruelty are hard to beat and some people still consider black cats a bad omen. That´s why animal sanctuaries find difficult to re-home black cats and most rescue centers refuse to give black cats in adoption when Halloween is coming since unfortunately it´s a well-known fact that some people would use the cat as a simple ornament or what it´s much worse, they might kill the unlucky creature in a sathanic ritual.
Lo malo es que la superstición, la ignorancia y la crueldad son difíciles de erradicar y que aún hay quien considera al gato negro un símbolo de mal presagio. Los refugios de animales tienen mayores dificultades a la hora de encontrarles nuevos hogares y muchos albergues se niegan a darlos en adopción en vísperas de Halloween para evitar que el gato se convierta en un mero adorno temático o lo que es mucho peor, sea utilizado en algún ritual satánico.
