Christmas Psicosis

Our little Tinker Bell has grown up - My own fashion disasters - Part Two

Lesson One -  "The grown up Tinker Bell" Never, ever buy a minidress a size smaller. It doesn´t matter if it fits your chest and waist, it will still look ridiculously short and tarty. In the best case, an extremely short balloon dress will make you look like a grown up Tinker Bell. It happened to me. Oh, never, never, again!

Lección Uno - "Campanilla adulta" Nunca jamás te compres un minivestido de una talla inferior. Aunque tu cuerpo quepa en él, el vestido se verá ridiculamente corto y vulgar. En el mejor de los casos parecerás una Campanilla crecidita. Hablo por experiencia... ¡Oh, nunca,nunca jamás!
Lesson Two - "Bird watching or birds are watching me" Wearing a pair of shiny silver tights isn´t always a brilliant idea. Ok, it depends on the pattern, the fabric, your entire outfit, etc. Unfortunately I got a pair of metallic silver ones on the sales that gave me the look of an outer space creature. Oh, yes, I looked stunning... at least that´s what a pair of magpies thought about me. Since then, I have become famous as the magpie hypnotist.
Lección Dos - "La observadora de aves observada"  Unas medias plateadas resplandecientes no son siempre una opción brillante. Naturalmente todo depende del estampado, el tejido, las prendas que vistas,etc.  Me compré un par de aspecto muy metálico en las rebajas que me daban un aspecto de criatura del espacio exterior. Ah, si, me veía espectacular... al menos eso es lo que pensaron de mi dos urracas. Desde entonces se me conoce como la hipnotizadora de urracas.

 Lesson Three - "The washing machine faded my glamour away"  You know that your dyed hair fades away after a few washes and so does clothes colours after visiting the washing machine many times. Do you go for a total black outfit? Then make sure that your favourite jeans are still black or they will spoil all the look.         Lección Tres - " La lavadora destiñó mi glamour" Ya sabes que tu cabello teñido pierde la intensidad su color después de unos cuantos lavados y lo mismo sucede con las prendas de color después de unas cuantas visitas a la lavadora. ¿Quieres un outfit negro total? Asegúrate entonces de que tus vaqueros favoritos siguen siendo de ese color o estropearán todo tu look.

Politically correct Gilda


































Ok, I shouldn´t draw after watching a movie. I intended to portray Sadie as a modern Gilda that neither wears fur nor smokes but her eyes remind me of Bette Davis than Rita Hayworth´s. Oh, I have watched "What ever happened to Baby Jane?" by the way...
Creo que no debería dibujar después de ver una película. Quería dibujar a Sadie como a una moderna Gilda que no lleva pieles ni fuma pero sus ojos me recuerdan más a los de Bette Davis que a Rita Hayworth. Por cierto, he visto "Qué fue de Baby Jane"...

Surrealist Phobias

Ants are a common theme in Dali´s paintings as a symbol of death and decay. As a child, Dali kept a wounded pet bat in his washhouse hideaway and stayed there overnight. When he returned next morning he saw that the poor creature was being devoured by a mass of ants.
Las hormigas son un tema recurrente en la obra de Dalí como símbolo de muerte y putrefacción. De niño, Dalí recogió un murciélago herido al que escondió en un rincón del lavadero. A la mañana siguiente encontró a la infortunada criatura que estaba siendo devorada por numerosas hormigas.

Insects, I have a phobia about them, still they manage to fascinate me.  Dali, in some way, a despicable character but he remains one of my favourite surrealist artists.
Insectos. Tengo fobia a ellos pero no dejan de fascinarme. Dalí: en algunos aspectos un personaje despreciable, pero continua siendo uno de mis artistas favoritos del surrealismo.

Sadie and her muses: Alaska

Alaska is one of my favourite Spanish celebrities of all times. This Mexican-born singer became one  of the central characters of the so-called "Movida", a cultural movement that took place in Madrid the following years after the death of Franco. She has been in different music bands, perhaps the most successful one was Alaska y Dinarama or at least that´s the one that made me fell in love with her music. As a child I would admire Alaska as an artist but I apreciated the fact that she would always speak up for animals .So far, a few years ago she took her clothes off to appear in an ad against the cruel bullfighting. A multi-skilled artist, she has also worked as dj, TV star (she participated in "La Bola de Cristal"(the crystal ball") a legendary programme in the mid- 80´s and as an actress in the first of Almodovar´s films.

Sadie and the seven deadly (fashionist) sins

Seduction, passion, bodies to kill for,... Perfume ads could portray LUST in fashion. Ok, Sadie.There´s no need to show off. We know that you own an impressive collection of it bags. We forgive your PRIDE. That´s enough Sadie! You are going to make us envious and ENVY is one of the ugliest sins - look at you! Pff! Envy! It makes us to say and do so many stupid and nasty things! I´m getting tired of talking about the green-eyed monster. To be honest the only thing I feel like doing is to sit on the sofa with a nice cuppa and do some shopping on line! The fashionist turns into a couch potato! SLOTH  Click,click,click. Camel, red, grey,gold, kitten heels, boots,... I want it all! I will wear it all! You wolf down  new trends. That´s what we call fashion GLUTTONY. This kind of gluttony sometimes makes you to mix trends with disastrous results... I love magazines! I never have enough of them. I never get rid of them. They are mine! I suffer of GREED.  What´s the dreadest word that we fear of hearing in a shopping day? Sold out! We are unable to control our WRATH! It´s  your time now, fashionist sinners, to confess your worst fashion sin!
